Gorukhuti Agricultural Project completes one year in Darrang district

‘Gorukhuti Agricultural Project’- a dream project initiated by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma

MANGALDAI: 'Gorukhuti Agricultural Project'- a dream project initiated by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and led by Sootea legislator Padma Hazarika as its chairman at Gorukhuti in Sipajhar LAC of the Darrang district, has completed its first eventful one year and in this year, this project has received a fund of Rs 9,52,93,348 from the Director of Agriculture, Assam of which an amount of Rs. 5,23,07,683 has been incurred as total expenditure.

During this year, this project has received an amount of Rs. 9,68,185 as the sale proceeds against the total expenditure of Rs. 6,79,008 in agricultural crops with the profit of Rs 28,91,277. Similarly an amount of Rs. 13,89,705 has been received as the sale proceeds of milk and curd and Rs. 79,278 as sale proceeds of miscellaneous items. The total income from all sale proceeds is Rs 11,150,268," said the chairman of Gorukhuti Agricultural Project, Padma Hazarika while taking part in a meeting at Gorukhuti to mark the completion of a successful year on Thursday.

At present, the Project has 501 Gir cows, including 181 calves, 119 pigs including 50 piglets, 10 tractors, one harvester and one silage machine, 100 solar irrigation pumps, three permanent cowsheds and one temporary cowshed, one pig shed, one handloom training centre, six constructed highlands, and two fisheries covering 30 bighas of land each.

The function began with the hoisting of the flag of the society followed by a bhoomi poojan where Sipajhar legislator Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi and all the officials, including Deputy Commissioner Pranab Kumar Sarma, Superintendent of Police Raj Mohan Ray, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Vivek Shyam Pangyok, District Veterinary Officer Dr Ananta Barua and volunteers, leading citizens and media persons took part. Vice-president of Axam Xahitya Xabha, Mrinalini Devi cut the specially designed cake to mark the day. She also appreciated the spirit of the agricultural volunteers involved in the Project to make it a model agri farm in the State.

Uddipta Gautam, an officer of Assam Civil Service 2021 batch, on Thursday joined as the Chief Executive Officer of Gorukhuti Agricultural Project.
