TINSUKIA: The Minister of State for Labour and Tea Tribes Welfare, Sanjay Kishan in a press meet at Tinsukia on Thursday, said that the government circular on the modalities of overtime for the workers engaged in the industrial units was not applicable for the tea garden workers. He alleged that some organizations and political parties, to create instability in the gardens, resorted to false propaganda for political mileage even during the COVID crisis by misinterpreting the government order. He clarified that the owners could engage workers up to a maximum of 13 hours to cope with over production with payment of overtime wages but could not force workers for overtime jobs.
