Government to make Darrang one of the most developed districts: Rameswar Teli

MANGALDAI: Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment, Petroleum & Natural Gas Rameswar Teli on Thursday handed over certificates and sanction letters to 750 beneficiaries in Darrang of various government schemes under different departments at a programme held at Mangaldai District Library auditorium on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration.

Sipajhar legislator Dr Paramananda Rajbangshi, vice-chairpersons of State Women's Commission Nilima Devi, Darrang Deputy Commissioner Pranab Kumar Sarmah, several senior officers and district heads of various departments were present in the meeting.

Taking part in the function, MoS Rameswar Teli said that Darrang district is an aspirational district and this district has been made the focus of development initiatives. The Prime Minister is endeavouring to double farmer's income and the government is going to set up bioethanol plant in Darrang where people will get employment, he said.

"A mini food park project is being implemented at Darrang which was sanctioned when I was in the Food Processing ministry. It will offer the scope for employment," the MoS said.

He also said that Orang National Park had immense potential for eco tourism and all must strive for developing its infrastructure for increased tourism activities. Gas pipelines will come to Darrang and people will be benefitted. "In the near future, we are going to make Darrang one of the most developed districts. Around 75 ponds will be dug in every district under the Amrit Sarovar scheme and in Darrang also it will be implemented," he said.

In today's programme, KCC Cards, PMAY Gramin sanction letters, free LPG gas connections, soil health cards, PM KISAN sanctions, E Shram cards, street vendor loans, land pattas, lead bank loan certificates among others were distributed.
