Government's on move to set up toll plaza at Rongajan slammed

The National Highway Authority will set up a new toll plaza at NH-39 at Rongajan in the Golaghat district.

GOLAGHAT: The National Highway Authority will set up a new toll plaza at NH-39 at Rongajan in Golaghat district. In this regard, the department concerned has already taken preliminary steps for setting up a new toll plaza at Rongajan.

On Sunday, officials visited the area and took land measurement for construction. According to sources, after government approval the department has completed 30 per cent preliminary procedure like land acquisition, land measurement and documentation.

After coming to know about the construction of a new toll plaza in Rongajan area, several representatives of various organizations came out and raised their voices against the toll plaza in Golaghat district. They directly opposed toll plaza in the district and slammed the BJP government. Organizations like Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Parishad (AJYP) have totally opposed the toll plaza.

The activists of the organizations said that the national highways were in a pathetic and deplorable condition. But the government was setting up toll gates one after another. The organizations said that they would not allow to set up toll gate at Rongajan in Golaghat.
