DHUBRI:The Governor of Assam, Gulab Chand Kataria and his wife, Anita Kataria, concluded their two-day visit to Dhubri on Wednesday.
On the second day, Governor visited Ramraikuti Xatra, a religious and one of highly revered seats of worship of Vaishnavites at Satrasal and offered prayer there, and thereafter inspected the Indo-Bangladesh international border in the Dhubri district.
The Governor arrived in Dhubri on Tuesday and offered prayers at the Maa Mahamaya Temple at Bogribari. The Governor, thereafter visited the Asharikandi terracotta cluster of villages and inspected the craft in clay and making of terracotta. He also addressed the terracotta artisans and interacted with the many terracotta craftsmen.
During his visit to terracotta village, Director of North East Craft and Rural Development Organisation (Necardo), Binoy Bhattacharjee,guided and briefed about the problems of the artisans and informed about the tradition, potentiality and opportunities in terracotta doll-making trade.
From Asharikandi, the Governor went to the Dhubri-Phulbari construction sitewherein he took stoke of progress of work and interacted with senior engineers engaged there.He also held meetings with high officials of the district and offered prayers at the Gurudwara Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib ji on his first day of visit.
