Governor Gulab Chand Kataria visits Dhemaji, takes stock of development works

LAKHIMPUR: Governor Gulab Chand Kataria who was on a one-day visit to Dhemaji district on Tuesday, chaired a series of meetings with the DC, SP, Heads of Security Agencies, and Department Heads at the DC Conference Hall in presence of Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu and the Labour and Employment Minister, Sanjoy Kisan.

In the meeting, the Governor took stock and assessed the implementation of both Central and State government schemes in the district and their likely dates of completion. He also took stock of the development works along with prevailing law and order in the district. Deputy Commissioner Ankur Bharali apprised the Governor of different flagship schemes being undertaken in the district along with their progress. He further took note on the functions of the departments and asked the department heads to see that the people are being benefited from their respective schemes.

Kataria also asked the DC to identify the problems and issues at the ground level for the expeditious implementation of the PMAY-G scheme. He also advised the Panchayat and Rural Development Department to strictly enforce the MNREGA scheme for the maximum benefit of the general public. Taking stock of the education scenario and enrolment in the district, the Governor asked the concerned functionaries to take adequate steps increasing enrolment of women in higher education institutions.

Talking on cyber crime, the Governor asked the officials to create and empower a robust ecosystem with trained local youth to address the menace. The Governor also met a few beneficiaries of government schemes and interacted with them after the meeting.
