KOKRAJHAR: Expressing discontentment over the imposition of Governor's Rule in BTC, Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary on Monday said that Governor's Rule was totally uncalled in the greater interest of the development of a region. He said BTC was one of the most backward regions in the country and people of this region could see the pace of development only after the creation of BTC in 2003.

Daimary, while interacting with media persons, said the Governor's Rule was imposed in BTC since April 27. He said as per clauses of the MoS, the elected executive council which had been ruling the BTC should have been given a chance to govern by extending its term for one year depending on the situation. But not doing so, Governor's Rule was imposed which was not a good sign for the overall development. He said the Governor should take concurrence from the State cabinet prior to taking over the reins of the council administration but the matter was not discussed in a proper manner.

Daimary said that the Gauhati High Court would deliver its judgement soon on the issue as two persons had already filed petition against the Governor's Rule in BTC. On the alleged corruption in BTC by the council, Daimary said the allegations made by the opposition were not based on facts. He said development of the region would not have been visible if rampant corruption had been taking place.
