Grand harvest of Boro paddy organized under APART

A programme on grand harvest of Boro paddy was organized under Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dhubri, Assam Agricultural University, Haldibari in collaboration with International Rice Research Institute (IRRI)

DHUBRI: A programme on grand harvest of Boro paddy was organized under Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dhubri, Assam Agricultural University, Haldibari in collaboration with International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) at Hatipota village of Chapar-Salkocha developmental block of Dhubri district on Friday. Senior Scientist & Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dhubri, Dr. FUA Ahmed formally initiated the programme by welcoming the participants and briefing about the objectives of the programme.

He further presented an overview of the importance of mechanization in paddy, right from sowing to post harvesting and emphasized on promotion and strengthening of agricultural mechanisation.

The programme was graced by Assistant Professor (Plant pathology), SCS College of Agriculture, Dhubri, Dr. Gunnadhya K. Upamanya, who discussed about the incidence of various pests and diseases in paddy as well as other predominant crops and their efficient management.

Abhijit Paul, SMS (Fishery Science), Bikash J. Gharphalia, SMS (Agrometeorology) and Associate Scientist (APART), Dibyarishi Bhattacharya, SMS (Agronomy), Akhoy J. Bharadwaj, Junior Researcher (IRRI), along with members of Gaon Panchayat, senior citizens were the members who attended the programme.

The grand harvest was conducted using a combine harvester at a Boro paddy demonstration belonging to Joshnara Khatun of Hatipota village. Around 100 participants from the village showed eagerness in learning about the new technology and expected for the availability of the demonstrated technology in their locality. The programme finally concluded with the vote of thanks from Bikash J. Gharphalia.
