LAKHIMPUR: A grand harvest programme of Boro paddy was organized on Friday at Badhakora Kuchiamari village under Boginadi Block of Lakhimpur district by Assam Agricultural University-Zonal Research Station (AAU-ZRS), North Lakhimpur. The programme was organized under Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) in collaboration with International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). Dr. Prabal Saikia, Chief Scientist, Zonal Research Station, Assam Agricultural University, North Lakhimpur welcomed the participants and briefly highlighted objectives of the programme.
The programme was graced by Dhakuakhana MLA Naba Kumar Doley as chief guest. In his speech, the MLA highlighted the performance of APART project in the district and encouraged farmers to go for mechanization in greater scale. Guest of honour for the event, Bhawajit Doley, District Agricultural Officer, Lakhimpur expressed his gratitude for organizing such programme and mentioned about important government schemes. Besides the chief guest, Monuranjan Patir, Agricultural Development Officer of Boginadi Kongkon Kakoty, Agricultural Development Officer of Chaboti Lakhi Kanta Nath, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy) Prafulla Dutta, President of Nakadam Gaon Panchayat Jyoti Borah Saikia, Thengal Kachari Sahitya Parishad EM Bhupen Thengal, Ward Member Govind Sonowal, Gaon Pradhan Rishikesh Phukan, Junior Researcher of IRRI along with members, secretary and senior citizens also attended the programme as specially invited guests.
