TEZPUR: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur organized a grand harvest programme of Sali paddy using a mini combine harvester modified for Assam condition under the World Bank-funded project APART was demonstrated at Juglowni village. KVK, Sonitpur is the first station to implement this harvester among all the KVKs of Assam.
Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra, Dr. Mrinal Saikia, ADR, Agri, Dr. Debanand Das, Alternate Nodal Officer, OPIU-APART, Pankaj Saikia, DAO, Sonitpur and other officials of district agriculture office, Sonitpur and Dr. Suryakanta Khandai, Associate Scientist, IRRI and all the staff of KVK, Sonitpur graced the occasion. Angana Sarmah, Incharge Head, KVK, Sonitpur welcomed the participants and Dr. Suryakanta Khandai discussed about the objectives of the programme and explained the importance of combine harvester.
