Grand harvesting of Boro paddy organized under APART

LAKHIMPUR: A ceremonial programme on ‘Grand Harvesting of Boro Paddy’ was organized under the aegis of Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) using Mini Combine Harvester by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lakhimpur in collaboration with International Rice Research Institute on Wednesday at Sampora Pomua village under Ghilamara Development Block of the Lakhimpur district.

Dr Prasanta Kumar Pathak, Senior Scientist & Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lakhimpur, Assam Agricultural University formally initiated the programme by welcoming the participants and briefing about the objectives of the programme. He further presented an overview of the importance of farm mechanization in paddy, right from its seed-to-seed cycle and encouraged the farmers to adopt agricultural mechanization to keep pace with the revolution in agriculture in the present scenario.

The programme was graced as chief guest by Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah. In his speech, the MP highlighted the present scenario of agriculture in the State and briefed about the role of mechanization, its implications as a tool for doubling farmer’s income in agriculture and encouraged the participants to adopt new scientific technologies to uplift their agricultural environment. Guest of honour of the event, Bhawajit Doley, District Agriculture Officer, Lakhimpur expressed his gratitude for organizing such programme which created a mass awareness on new technologies to the farmers and also encouraged the farmers to come forward to avail the benefits from the agricultural schemes that are ongoing in the district which he briefed about in his speech.

Goalpara: A grand harvest programme of Boro Paddy 2022-23 at Abrabhita, Goalpara was organized under APART, AAU- HRS on Wednesday.

The programme was attended as the chief guest by Anwesha Saikia, Block Development Officer who inaugurated the mini combine harvester. Murari Mohan Ray, former joint director of agriculture department, emphasized new technological intervention of agriculture whereas Dr Samiran Pathak, principal scientist of Dudhnoi centre, briefed about the changing scenarios of agriculture and its interventions for better agriculture. Dr Rohit Namdeo, consultant, focused on the scientific methods of cultivation along with the need and importance of mechanisation in rice cultivation and the purpose of carrying out the grand harvest programme. More than 100 farmers from various blocks of the district participated in the programme.
