Guardian Minister Pijush Hazarika reviews government schemes

TEZPUR: Minister for Water Resources and Guardian Minister for Sonitpur district Pijush Hazarika on Friday held a review meeting at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office in the presence of Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika, Rangapara MLA Krishna Kamal Tanti, Deputy Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra, SP Sushanta Biswa Sarma, senior officials of the district administration and heads of various government departments.

At the very outset, he reviewed the status of paddy procurement in the district and discussed various issues being faced by the farmers in this regard. Laying stress on increasing the amount of paddy procured from the farmers, the Minister directed the Agriculture department officials to create more awareness among the farmers about the quality parameters of paddy and said that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) fixed by the Government will help boost the economic conditions of the farmers.

Reviewing the status of implementation of PM-KISAN in the district, the Minister asked the officials concerned to strive to achieve the target as fixed by the Government within the next year so that more farmers can avail the benefit of this scheme. He also directed the Agriculture department officials to implement the latest guidelines issued by the government regarding sale of urea as per decision taken in a recent Cabinet meeting.

The Guardian Minister also took a detailed review of the status of Jal Jeevan Mission in the district and asked the officials concerned to ensure early completion of all pending schemes. He also directed the department officials to blacklist any such contractor who has not shown satisfactory progress or those who are yet to start the works.

Reviewing the status of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) in the district, Minister Pijush Hazarika asked the officials to take up a special drive to complete the works of all pending houses in the district.

Reviewing the flood scenario in the district, he directed all departmental heads to work in close coordination so that relief and rehabilitation measures can be provided to the flood-hit people at the earliest.

He also reviewed the status of protection works being implemented by the Water Resources department and asked the department officials to work in close coordination with the P&RD department officials and carry out maintenance works in embankments built by P&RD department if the need arises. Discussions regarding the implementation of Amrit Sarovar scheme were also held during the course of the meeting.
