Guardian Minister Ranoj Pegu reviews schemes to be implemented in Sivasagar

Minister of State for Education and Guardian Minister of Sivasagar District Dr. Ranoj Pegu visited Sivasagar to review the schemes to be implemented under City Infrastructure Development Fund (CIDF) of Rs 100 crore.

SIVASAGAR: Minister of State for Education and Guardian Minister of Sivasagar District Dr. Ranoj Pegu visited Sivasagar to review the schemes to be implemented under City Infrastructure Development Fund (CIDF) of Rs 100 crore.

The review meeting, which held at the Syukafa conference hall of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar on Saturday, was attended by Jorhat MP Tapan Kumar Gogoi, Nazira MLA Debabrata Saikia, Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi, Thowra MLA Sushanta Borgohain, Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Megha Nidhi Dahal, Sivasagar Zila Parishad's Chief Executive Officer Ashwini Doley, District Development Commissioner Subhan Gowala, Additional Deputy Commissioner Karmadev Brahma, Sub-Divisional Officer of Nazira Sabyasachi Kashyap and officials of other departments concerned.

At the outset of the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner briefed in detail about the list of schemes to be implemented under the CIDF and tabled necessary additions or deletions for the purpose of finalizing the list. At the end of the detailed discussion, the house included a list of projects which have been finalized – beautification of the Jamuna, beautification of Sivasagar Tank (Borpukhuri), reconstruction of the Central Market, upgradation of gas-based crematoriums and cemeteries, beautification of Dikhow Bridge, improvization of the parks of Sivasagar town, development of water sports, construction of guest houses and beautification of Moribil, upgradation of tennis clubs, construction of drainage-culverts in Sivasagar town, construction of welcome arch of the town, upgrading of the District Library etc.

Guardian Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu, before finalizing the plans and projects, appealed to all concerned to focus on the three main objectives, such as public facilities, tourist facilities and growth in the tourism sector alongwith the potential to contribute to the growth of municipal revenue. In his speech, the Guardian Minister said that the State Government has taken various landmark steps for the overall development of all the districts.

The meeting also asked Dhrubajyoti Talukdar, Executive Engineer, Housing and Urban Development Department, Upper Assam Division to submit a report on the expenditure of the finalized schemes within a month. The next review meeting will be held at the end of February.
