Guardian Ministers ask officers to carry out field visits to implement schemes

KOKRAJHAR: Guardian Ministers of Kokrajhar, Udalguri and Chirang and Baksa, Ashok Singhal and UG Brahma on Thursday reviewed the implementation of centrally and state sponsored schemes in BTR and held a meeting with departmental heads in the secretariat conference hall. The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTC, Pramod Boro also attended the meeting with the officers of the council.

The Guardian Minister of Kokrajhar and Udalguri, Ashok Singhal directed to split the discussion into four parts i.e, monitoring of central sponsored schemes, fresh proposals, monitoring and progress of State sponsored schemes and problems in BTC area. As directed, the review meeting began with discussion with the departments involved in central sponsored schemes and decisions were taken up for action.

In the meeting, the Deputy Secretary, BTC, informed about the progress of MGNREGA, PMAY, NRLM schemes in the four districts of BTC. The minister said that the percentage of progress of PMAY scheme was not satisfactory and needed special attention. The Guardian Minister directed to carry out field visit and to instruct the BDOs of the development blocks to convene meeting with the beneficiaries every month to sort out their problems. It is also instructed to lodge FIR against beneficiaries who are using the fund of PMAY for some other purpose.

The NRLM scheme was discussed and the Guardian Minister directed to submit detail status to the Principal Secretary, BTC. The Guardian Minister summed up the discussion with a view that P&RD department had provided presentation on MGNREGA, PMAY, state sponsored, widow, old age schemes and the performance needed improvement within one month.

The CHD, PHE presented the status of Jal Jiban Mission (JJM) in all the districts of BTC. After getting feedback, the Guardian Minister suggested that every 20,000 households should have one helpline call centre and every household should be given a card. Once the water supply scheme was operational in a certain area, a functional committee had to be formed. It was also suggested to provide responsibility to each Executive Members (EM) of BTC with two constituencies to supervise the progress of JJM. It was further suggested to make awareness camp on JJM schemes and its benefits in all blocks and VCDCs on a mission mode.

Later, talking to reporters, the Guardian Minister of Kokrajhar and Udalguri, Ashok Singhal said they had a review meeting with the departmental heads of the council over the implementation of schemes, both Central and State sponsored schemes. He said many schemes were being smoothly implemented on time while some had to be looked into properly. He said that as many as 22 out of 24 widows who have lost their husbands due to COVID-19 were given cheques of Rs. 2.5 lakh each after the review meeting. He said the financial aid was given to them as a helping hand for the studies of their children and to run the family.
