TEZPUR: Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam for Transport, Irrigation, Excise, departments, and Guardian Secretary for Sonitpur district, Rajesh Prasad, on Thursday took a detailed review of the prevailing COVID-19 situation in Sonitpur district at a meeting held at the PWD IB at Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district.
Present in the meeting were Deputy Commissioner Bhupesh Chandra Das, CEO, Zilla Parishad, Diganta Baishya, ADCs Satyajit Chetia, Banti Talukdar, Joint Director, Health Service, Dr. J Ahmed, and others.
The Guardian Secretary took a detailed review of the testing and positivity rate in Dhekiajuli revenue circle area. He asked the officials present to identify areas showing high vulnerability and expressed concern at the number of deaths in the district. He directed the local Circle Officer and OC of Dhekiajuli Police Station to ensure strict compliance of the lockdown and all restrictions imposed by the district administration, as it was the only way to bring down the positivity rate in the district. He also directed them to impose fines on anyone found defying COVID protocol and asked the police to take prompt and swift penal action against violators. He also asked the enforcing officials to check all vehicles plying on the roads for permission/ passes and involve all lot mandals, gaon burhas, VDPs, PRI functionaries to ensure enforcement of lockdown in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
