GUWAHATI: Assam is all set to host the 49th Jawaharlal Nehru National Science Exhibition in Guwahati from 22 to 26 November 2022.
Notably, Assam will be hosting this prestigious exhibition after a gap of 25 years.
Meanwhile, Assam State Education Minister Ranoj Pegu held the first meeting of the organising committee today at Dispur and has drawn up a detailed plan, with this thirteen sub-committees have also been formed to make the event successful.
About Jawaharlal Nehru National Science Exhibition
With a view to encouraging, popularising and inculcating scientific temper among the children of the country, NCERT organizes Jawaharlal Nehru National Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition(JNNSMEE) for Children every year where children showcase their talents in science and mathematics and their applications in different areas related to our everyday life.
This exhibition is being organized since 1971.
In order to ensure the widest possible participation and involvement of students and teachers in the programme, NCERT organises this exhibition in two phases. In the first phase, exhibitions are held in each and every state and union territory from the district to the state level. This first phase is known as State Level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition (SLSMEE) for Children.
Notably, the 47th JNNSMEE-2020 and 48th JNNSMEE-2021 were being organized together in online mode due to the pandemic. The ideas of all the selected exhibits have been uploaded on the NCERT portal.
On the other hand, the minister also visited the office of the Director of Library Services, Guwahati District Library, Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Library, and Bishnu Nirmala Children Library today and took stock of the services.
Taking to his Twitter handle the minister wrote, "I am glad to learn that the number of visitors to the libraries is satisfactory. We will purchase books worth Rs. 1.12 crore this year. Investing in libraries and their upkeep is a priority for GoA."
