GUWAHATI: Design students Riddhi Agarwal and Ruth Velngaih Nem of INIFD Guwahati were highly appreciated on presenting the creative design concepts to the panel of eminent jury at the virtual event "The Design Festival: Season 8" for the selection to showcase at the upcoming Lakmé Fashion Week with FDCI.

"The Design Festival" is one unique platform by INIFD - the largest global network of design institutes. It is a series of 5-day nationwide events held bi-annually with a different set of pools of INIFD Centres on each day where different Panel of Experts judge the design presentations of INIFD students.

It's a big opportunity for INIFDians as 5 Fashion Design & 5 Interior Design Winners will be selected from 5 Pools of INIFD Centres. In March 2023, the selected Fashion Design students will get an exclusive opportunity to showcase at 'INIFD Launchpad' show during Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI and the selected Interior Design students get a chance to design sets of designer shows at Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI. Each winner will be rewarded with a cash Prize along with a mentorship under the Design experts from RISE Worldwide.

The design concept for selection, for both Fashion and Interior Design - 'EAST MEETS WEST' uses cultures of two different places in the world, one being India and the second being any other part of the world. Keeping in mind the theme Fashion Design students had to design a Collection using any art, textile, craft, painting or silhouette whereas Interior Design students had to design a set or a ramp for the show where the use of any space like a living room, restaurant, theatre etc was suggested. Jury members judged the presentation on the basis of thought process, design aesthetics, and theme compatibility.
