Guwahati: The office of the Superintendent of Police in Guwahati, Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell, Swatantra Senani Bhawan, Rupnagar, in Guwahati, Assam, have been declared as a micro-containment zone by the district administration of Kamrup (M). A high rise in the COVID-19 cases had been witnessed in the office of the Superintendent of Police, following which such a decision had to be taken by the district administration.
The order of the district administration of declaring the area as a micro-containment zone will be effective from Thursday and will last for 7 days as a measure to counter the spread of the coronavirus. This development was made after 11 staff members of the office of the Superintendent of Police tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the notification issued by the Kamrup (M) district administration, all entries and exits into the micro-containment zone have been restricted for the next seven days.
It is to be mentioned that this has happened at a time when Assam CM's Special Vigilance Cell had been handling and investigating high profile cases such as the embezzlement case of MLA Sherman Ali and the possession of disproportionate assets of Assam Deputy Inspector General Rounak Ali Hazarika.
