Guwahati: Five Day Long 'Natasurya' Drama Festival From Dec 12

GUWAHATI: The twenty sixth edition of five day long 'Natasurya' drama festival will be held with colourful itinerary organised by 'Natasurya Memorial Celebration Committee' in association with Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Assam from 12th December to 16th December, 2022 at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Panjabari, Guwahati.

In a press release of Natasurya, its president Swapnanil Barua, executive president Pulak Banerjee and general secretary Ramkrishna Sarma stated that in the evening at 6.15 pm on 12th December, the drama festival will begin with two chorus to be performed by members of 'Natasurya' under the direction of Pulak Banerjee. The drama festival will be formally inaugurated by renowned lyricist Kriti Kamal Bhuyan. Minakshi Das Nath, Director, Cultural Affairs Department, Govt. of Assam will participate as Guest of Honour.

On the inaugural day, the 4th memorial award in memory of Gias Uddin Ahmed, founder general secretary of Natasurya will be conferred upon Dalim Das, veteran mobile theatre actor of yesteryears. On that day Natasurya will stage the play "Sarkari Inspector" to be directed by veteran director Dulal Roy.

On 13th December the 'Orchid Theatre' will present the play 'The Old Man' to be directed by Sahidul Haque. The evening will be inaugurated by the Principal Secretary of Chief Minister's Office and Finance, Govt. of Assam Samir Kr. Sinha.

In the evening of 14th December the National School of Drama, New Delhi will stage the drama 'Abhigyansakuntalam' to be directed by Professor Bidushi Reeta Ganguly. Laya Madduri, Secretary, Cultural Affairs department, Govt. of Assam will grace the occasion as Chief Guest.

In the Evening of 15th December the NF Railway Cultural Association will present the famous drama of Rupknowar Jyotiprasad Agarwala, 'Lovita'. The drama will be directed by Chandrajit Saikia. Anshul Gupta, General Manager, NF Railway, Maligaon will be the chief guest of the evening.

On the concluding day of the festival 'Abhinaya' in association with 'Natasurya' will present the play 'Saran Das Chor'. This drama will be directed by Sanjib Kr. Buragohain. Dhiresh Narayan Chowdhury, former Judge of Gauhati High Court will be the Chief Guest of the concluding day function.

The 'Natasurya' family solicits presence of the audience on all five evenings of the drama festival. It is mention worthy that 'Natasurya' has entered its glorious twenty sixth year. Every year Natasurya has been successfully organising this drama festival with colourful Programmes, said President Swapnanil Barua.
