In three separate operations, troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force apprehended 5 Indian cattle smugglers

GUWAHATI: In three separate operations, troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force apprehended 5 Indian cattle smugglers and rescued 101cattle heads from bordering areas of Kaliralga village, under Sukhchar Police Station of South Salamara district in Dhubri on Tuesday night.

Acting on tip-off, on the intervening night of Tuesday, BSF troops of Boreralga Border Out Post (BOP) of 6Bn BSF carried out a special operation in the riverine area of Indo-Bangladesh International border and apprehended the smugglers. Apprehended cattle smugglers were identified as: Shaidur Islam (22years), son of Hakim Ali of Kaliralga part-I village, Mohim Sheikh. (28years), son of Jabed Ali Sheikh of Ashmeralga village, Zakir Hussain (28years), son of Late Romjan Hussain, under Sukhchar Police Station, Sahedul Islam (32years), son of Abdul Latif Sheikh under Sukhchar Police Station. Apprehended smugglers along with seized items have been handed over to PS-Sukhchar, Distt – South Salamara (Assam)for further legal action.

In second operation, on intervening night of Tuesday, BSF troops of Shishumara Border Out Post apprehended 1 Indian cattle smuggler along with 8 cattle heads after hot pursuit. Apprehended cattle smuggler has been identified as Akhirul Islam (19 years), son of Bakto Sheikh, under Sukhchar Police Station. Apprehended smuggler along with seized items have been handed over to Sukhchar Police Station for further legal action.

BSF troops have also rescued 52 cattle heads from different places of Coochbehar district of West Bengal and 31 cattle heads from different places of South Salamara district on Indo-Bangladesh border, stated a press release.
