GUWAHATI: In three separate operations, troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended six Indian cattle smugglers along with 132 cattle heads from bordering area of village Karairalga, PS– Kharuabandha and 30 Bigha, Distt –South Salamara and Dhubri (Assam) and South Balabhut, PS- Sahebganj Distt – Cooch Behar (WB) on July 14 and 15.
Acting on tip-off, on 14 July at about 5:15 pm, vigilant BSF troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Sishumara and Boreralga of 06 Bn BSFcarried out a joint operation in riverine area of Indo-Bangladesh International border. The troops apprehended four Indian cattle smugglers along with 15 cattle heads after hot pursuit, while cattle heads were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh. Apprehended cattle smugglers have been identified as - Muktar Hussain (32), Akhter Ali (35), Mohizzuddin Bepari (27) and MD Safiqual Islam (29). Apprehended smuggler alongwith seized items have been handed over to PS-Kharuabandha, Distt – South Salamara (Assam) for further legal action.
In second operation, the BSF troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Chowkichar of 41 Bn BSF apprehended one Indian cattle smuggler along with 27 cattle heads.
Apprehended cattle smuggler has been identified as Md Jahanuddin Mullah (24). In the third operation on July 15, troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Talai of 62 Bn BSF apprehended one Indian cattle smuggler along with 26 cattle heads.
The accused has Habizur Rahman (19) was handed over to Tufanganj Police Station under Cooch Behar district for further legal action, stated a release.
