* Country-made weapon/bomb recovered

GUWAHATI: In yet another success in its crusade against crime at Indo-BD border, in two different joint operations troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force along with Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Assam Police apprehended four Indian smugglers along with 752 kgs of cannabis on July 17, and also recovered one country-made revolver and three country-made bombs from the bordering area of village Chhat Chhedarjhar under Kotwali Police Station in Coochbehar District of (West Bengal) and village Kalpara, under Dhubri Police Station and Dhubri district of Assam.
Acting on a tipoff on July 17, BSF troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Sitai of 75 Bn BSF along with NCB Zonal unit Kolkata launched a special joint search operation in the houses of two persons. The search operation was conducted in the Narayan Sarkar (23 years) — son of Anand Sarkar; and Dulal Sarkar (23 years) — son of Duriram Sarkar of village Chhat Chhedarjhar under Bairati Post Office, Kotwali Police Station in Coochbeher District of West Bengal — close to the Indo-Bangladesh border. and recovered 752 Kgs Cannabisfrom both the houses and also apprehended the house owners.
The apprehended narcotics smugglers and seized cannabis will be produced in Court by the NCB for further legal action.
In the second operation, acting on a tipoff, on July 18, BSF troops of Border outpost (BOP) Sialda of 67 Bn BSF along with Assam Police under Dhubri Police Station and District launched a special joint search operation in the houses of two persons.
They are Saddam Ali (19 years) – son of Anowar Ali; and Soheb Ali (30 years) – son of Amir Ali — both residents of Kaimvasani Village under Pattamari Post Office within the jurisdiction of Dhubri Police Station in Dhubri District of Assam — close to Indo-Bangladesh border.
The team recovered one country-made weapon (revolver) from the house of Saddam Ali and three hand-made bombs from the house of Soheb Ali and also apprehended the house owners.
The apprehended Indian miscreants along with the seized weapons and bombs were handed over to Dhubri Police Station for further legal action.
Keeping in view the vulnerability of border, heightened activities of the smugglers and anti-national elements on the border, the BSF troops are always alert towards the issues of trans-border crimes.
The troops are making all-out efforts to prevent commission of such crimes, stated a press release of the BSF.
