Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force seizes opium, two held

GUWAHATI: Border Security Force on Monday conducted a special operation in the area of responsibility of Guwahati Frontier and apprehended two Indian nationals along with 750 grams of raw opium from bordering areas of Chungerkataunder village under Mathabhanga Police Station in Coochbehar district of West Bengal.

Acting on a tip-off, troops of BSF of 140 Bn BSF under Guwahati Frontier launched the operation. The suspects were plying from Bhangamore to Chungerkata (Icchaganj market) by two bicycles. They were carrying a plastic bag. During the search operation they recovered 750grams of raw opium from their possession. They were identified as Sunil Barman, son of Late Bidhya Barman, (55 years), Mahesh Chandra Barman son of Late Devaru Barman, (35 yers). Both are residents of Bhangamor village under Mathabhanga Police Station in Coochbehar district of West Bengal. The suspects along with seized raw opium and vehicle were handed over to Mathabhanga Police Station for further legal action, stated a press release.
