Guwahati: One Nabbed by Police in Jalukbari With Drugs

Guwahati police has arrested one person from Jalukbari, Guwahati on Tuesday in connection with smuggling contraband substances.

GUWAHATI : Assam police has yet again arrested one person in connection with smuggling drugs in Guwahati. The episode occurred on Wednesday at Jalukbari. After the police got hands on some specific information, Guwahati Police directed an operation against the smugglers of the city. 

During this period, Jintu Borah was caught and arrested for his link with illegal contraband substances. According to the reports, police grasped almost 14 containers filled with narcotics substances. The police further informed that they have seized a two wheeler of the accused, with registration number AS 25 D 8015. 

Recently, in the month of October, another person was arrested by the Guwahati Police department in connection with narcotics substances. According to source, the police conducted an operation against drugs based on some particular inputs in Sijubari area of Hatigaon in Guwahati.

During the raid, a vehicle was seized along with massive amount of contraband substances. According to the police reports, the smuggled items were worth Rs 1 crore in the international markets. One person identified as Ritumoni Pator was arrested by the police regarding the same matter for further interrogation. Officials informed that proper investigation is initiated on the issue and more anti-narcotics operation will be conducted.

In the same month, three other people were caught by the Assam police near Saraighat Bridge of Guwahati. Approximately 750gms of heroine was seized from a four wheeler vehicle. According to the reports, the vehicle was heading towards West Bengal.

Chief Minister of Assam, Hemanta Biswa Sarma tweeted regarding this matter, mentioning that Guwahati police and Kamrup police in a joint operation seized 750gms of heroine and arrested three person near Saraighat Bridge.

In the month of October 2022, 9 people were arrested by the Assam police from three district in connection with transporting drugs. Narcotics substance worth Rs 25 crore, along with cannabis and yaba tablets were seized from them. The arrested persons were from Assam, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Bihar and Manipur. The Sub Divisional Police Officer, John Das informed that the vehicle possessing all the contraband substance was coming from Manipur to Assam, and got caught in the check post of the state.

Assam is totally engaged in anti-narcotics operations and the police department is continuously looking out for the drug smugglers in the State through joint operations and conducting raids.
