Haflong:
Tension continues in Dima Hasao district of Assam since the abduction and murder of a prominent businessman and former Dima Halam Daoga (DHD) leader. Today, the Halali Progressive Welfare Society staged a sit in protest in front of the DC's office in Haflong.
Dilip Nunisa, a former rebel leader of the DHD and tonsured his head and urged the Government to bring justice to Hojai, who was allegedly killed by miscreants after he was picked up from his residence in a white Bolero.
Meanwhile, the organization that staged the protest today has written to Amit Shah urging for a CBI inquiry into the matter.
Nunisa, talking to mediapersons, said that despite the formation of a SIT, the accused are yet to be nabbed and urged Shah to bring justice to the allegedly murdered man and his family. He further alleged that several similar incidents have been reported from the region and implored the Government to look into the matter.
It may be mentioned here that an insurgent leader-turned Government contractor called Santosh Hojai, a resident of Harangjao in Dima Hasao district, was discovered dead on May 30. The man's body was recovered at Lailang, about 70 kms away from Haflong, the administrative headquarter of Dima Hasao.
