Haflong town committee restricts stray cattle in public places

Haflong: The Haflong Town Committee through a notification issued by T.T Daulagupu, ACS, Chief Executive Officer, has notified to all, and particularly the cattle owners that henceforth any stray cattle (cow, goat, sheep etc ) found in public places such as market place, public road, public premises etc. during any time of the day and night shall be immediately impounded.

The impounded cattle will be handed over to the A H & Vetty. Department for taking care of the cattle for a period of 5 (five) days. The cattle will be handed over back to the owner only on written assurance that the owner shall henceforth not let the cattle stray.

Also a fine of Rs. 500 (Rupees five hundred) will be realized by the Town Committee and for the upkeep of the cattle the A H & Vetty. Department shall charge Rs. 400 per day (cow) and Rs.212.50 per day (goat and sheep) apart for transportation charge of Rs. 1000 (Rupees one thousand) only. If the cattle owner fails to claim the impounded cattle within the stipulated period of 5 (five) days then it shall be sold on public auction after proper notification to the general public. Therefore, all the cattle owners of Haflong town area are hereby requested not to let their cattle stray. This order will come into force from May 15.
