Hailakandi: The Hailakandi district administration has developed an android app named ‘Career Nirman’ giving wealth of information on the various courses on offer in the State and Central Government institutions within the North East Region.
Inaugurating the app specially designed for students at a function held at SS College auditorium here on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli said it will provide information to the students of the state and the region as a whole on the various courses available in the State and Central Government institutions and the career options that they can choose and pursue. “The North East has enough courses available in the State and Central institutions for the students to choose from without having to go to Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and other places. The app will provide information on these institutions and the courses on offer,” said Jalli.
Appealing to the students to keep pace with the fast-changing times and to keep themselves updated, Jalli said, “Unlike in the past, things are fast-changing and you have to follow your heart and passion to choose from many courses available these days. This is the advantage you have and you to grab the opportunities.”
Terming freelancing as a mainstream job, Jalli said, “Today’s world is a gig economy and it is about working at your own pace, at your convenience as a freelancer. Unlike in the past when freelancers were called hippies vis-a-vis directionless as they did not have any idea and worked whenever they felt like. Today through Instagram and Snapchat you can travel the world over and experience life aplenty. You will not be able to satisfy yourself in one platform of a job. And that is where designing of your career comes. It is no more mainstream type of job be it computer science, electronics or doctor. So much of specializations have come in today.”
Citing Instagram ‘caption writing’ as a career option today, Jalli said all the big stars that we follow have specifically people out there who write captions and post for them on Instagram.
Jalli said in today’s technologically and advanced age people can work from home for overseas companies, as a photographer, video editing and doing research as a freelancer and other new styles of careers unlike in the past with limited options.
