* Administration appeals to people for swab test

HAILAKANDI: Several employees of Metro Bazaar situated in the heart of Hailakandi town have tested COVID-19 positive.
The district administration has issued advisory requesting everybody who has been to Metro Bazaar in the past 7 to 10 days to get their swab samples tested to arrest the further spread of the disease in the community. As of now, 170 cases have been detected positive under Rapid Antigen Test and that, too, with a majority of persons with no travel history. Given the gravity of the situation, the administration is setting up a testing facility at Nazrul Sadan on Sunday.
Four fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in the district on Saturday, taking the total tally to 977. Health authorities here disclosed that out of the four positive cases on Saturday, three cases have been detected under the RAT. The administration has set up 19 COVID-19 screening and counselling centres in different locations of the district. It has stepped up Rapid Antigen Test in market places, mall, pharmacies, hotels, restaurants, bus and auto stands and in rice mills. Contact tracing has also been intensified with many positive cases coming to the fore. Two COVID-19 positive patients viz., Mangoli Rani Das (53), and Foijul Haque Barbhuiya (65), breathed their last at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. There have been three 'non COVID' deaths at SMC&H. 30 patients are undergoing treatment at SK Roy designated COVID Civil Hospital, 17 at SMC&H, 31 at Algapur COVID Model Hospital, two at HPC COVID Care Centre, 79 at Adarsha Vidyalaya COVID Care Centre and one under process.
