Health minister Keshab Mahanta on Thursday visited the house of the family members of the victims who were killed in a tragic road accident at Balijan in Dergaon of Golaghat district.

GOLAGHAT: Health minister Keshab Mahanta on Thursday visited the house of the family members of the victims who were killed in a tragic road accident at Balijan in Dergaon of Golaghat district. The minister interacted with the family members of the victims and took stock of the present situation. He assured to take responsibility for the treatment of injured persons in the accident.

Talking to the media, Keshab Mahanta said that the government has taken full responsibility for the treatment of those seriously injured in the accident. He also said that government has taken up the responsibility of plastic surgery to the four-year-old girl named Priti Saikia who is admitted in GMCH. Earlier, the members of the four-year-old girl were seeking financial assistance.

The medical department team also would continue to provide medical services in the village every day. The minister also directed the District Commissioner to conduct an inquiry into the tragic incident. Notably, in the horrified accident altogether twelve persons including children died on the spot and whereas 31 persons are under treatment in the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital and Jorhat Medical College and Hospital.
