KOKRAJHAR: Health Minister Keshab Mahanta on Tuesday visited Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital and took stock of the overall preparation of the medical college ahead of the inauguration ceremony by the Prime Minister next month on April 14. The Health Minister accompanied by Cabinet minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, BTC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro, convened a meeting with medical officials to discuss the preparedness for upcoming inauguration ceremony by the Prime Minister next month.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, the Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the newly-built Kokrajhar Medical College (KMC) on April 14 and the classes will start functioning from September-October next. The newly-built Kokrajhar Medical College (KMC) has already received nod from the National Medical Commission (NMC) to start functioning from 2023-24 academic session with 100 MBBS seats. The KMC has officially become the 10th medical colleges in Assam.
