Donkamukam: Heavy dust storm and rain lashed West Karbi Anglong at 2.30 pm on Wednesday, blowing away hundreds of kutcha houses belonging to BPL families, uprooting trees and electric posts in Boithalangso, Donkamukam, Satgaon, Tumpreng and Kheroni.
Vehicles carrying grocery, medicine and other essential commodities waited for a couple of hours for the roads to clear as the road connecting Hojai Tumpreng Donkamukam road and Kampur Rajagaon to Boithalangso road were blocked by uprooted trees. In Taradubi, Tumpreng, Hongkram, Boithalangso and the adjoining areas, over hundreds of betel nut plants were damaged. Although so far no human casualty was reported, over 80 families of Karbi Rongsopi, Kollonga, Kuthepi, Menmiji, Vomu atar and Deramukh villages have become homeless.
