TEZPUR: State Health and Education Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma formally inaugurating the Science stream at Rangapara College on Monday. He also distributed appointment letters among 15 newly-appointed Assistant Professors for the Science stream. Also, the building for Science stream was formally inaugurated by the minister on Monday.
The classes for the Science stream will begin from the month of November. With this, Rangapara College becomes the second college in Sonitpur district after Darrang College, Tezpur to have all the three academic streams.
Later, the minister also laid the foundation stone for high schools in several tea gardens under Rangapara, Borsola and Dhekiajuli LACs of the district, namely Sonabeel TE, Dhekiajuli TE, Panbari TE, DibruDarrang TE, Tinkharia TE and Narayanpur TE. He also laid the foundation stones of two PMGSY roads, one at Keherukhunda which will connect PalashPathar to SingriBagan, and another one at Juradia, NH-15, both under Borsola LAC.
Sarma also laid the foundation stone of a ShahidUdyan and Museum under SOPD scheme for the year 2019-20 along with an orphanage and old-age home at JangalBasti in Dhekiajuli town, which will be set up on 16 bighas of land which has been specially earmarked for the purpose.
He also laid the foundation stone of a community hall which is being built near JagannathSevaSadan at PolashPothar under Borsola LAC from the Untied Fund for the year 2019-20.
