Himanta Biswa Sarma Launches Mission Basundhara 2.0

After the success of the first phase the last year, the second phase has been launched.

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the second phase of the Mission Basundhara on Monday from the premises of the Srimanta Shankardev Kalakshetra.

The first phase was launched more than a year ago from the same dais by the Chief Minister. The aim was to seamline land registration and tax collection processes in the state. Resolution of disputes, issuing necessary documents related to ownership and getting permissions of construction was also included in the peripheries of the first phase.

And after a year and a month after its opening to the public and its successful implementation, the state government has decided to take it to the next level.

The goals of this phase include several key developments. They include providing land rights to the indigenous people of the state, especially to those who do not have any legal claims to land. Rights of the government land and ceiling land will be given to such citizens for agriculture and housing projects as per the current rules of the land.

Expressing his happiness on the successful completion of the first phase of the project, the CM mentioned that this second phase will also see equal success, if not more.

"Securing land rights of indigenous populations is the prime objective of the mission. The public, especially the poor and disadvantaged sections, must be able to get their land-related work done through Mission Basundhara," Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

State Minister for Revenue & Disaster Management, Hills Area Development in Assam, Jogen Mohan was also present along with the Chief Minister. The Chief secretary, additional chief secretary, principal secretary of Revenue and Disaster Management, Principal Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development and several other dignitaries were present in this meeting.

Keeping up with the strict policy against corruption, he told all the officers present to maintain complete transparency in the process. He also warned government employees against complacency, negligence and corrupt practices while implementing the mission.
