Udalguri: Assam Finance Minister, Himanta Biswa Sharma once again said on Friday that the next Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) will be a BJP man.

The BTC elections are scheduled anytime soon.

Sarma took a dig at Bodoland People's Front (BPF) president and former BTC CEM Hagrama Mohilary, saying that the BPF party can just pretend to care about the welfare of the people only during the electioneering period but once the election is over, people keeps complaining that the promises have not been kept.

Sarma also took the opportunity for praising his party regarding the signing of the Bodo peace accord in January this year. He mentioned that the sole credit for this goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that because of this Accord, Assam will have one identity. The Minister further assured that the BTR will not suffer from any kind of disturbance if the BJP is voted to power in the upcoming polls.

Sarma also reminded the residents of BTC about the 'Orunodoi' scheme and affirmed that a huge number of underprivileged people in the region will be benefitted under it.

Under the scheme, an amount of Rs 830 per month will be given to 17 lakh families who are eligible to avail the benefits.
