DHEKIAJULI: State Finance Minister and BJP leader Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday addressed an election rally in the Swahid Maidan premises in Dhekiajuli in favour of Dhekiajuli constituency BJP candidate Ashok Singhal.
More than 5,000 people attended the rally. Attacking All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal, Sarma said that the BJP had stopped the functioning of madrassas in Assam but if Ajmal and the Grand Alliance won this election, they would re-open madrassas. The BJP government was working for establishing medical colleges and engineering colleges in Assam. Unemployed youths had been given job opportunities based on their merit, he said. He elaborately described about the different schemes implemented by the BJP government in Assam, especially the Arunodoi scheme for the benefit of common people.
In the election rally, several prominent BJP leaders were present like Pallab Lochan Das, Tezpur MP, Batash Urang, youth BJP leader and Dhekiajuli BJP candidate Ashok Singhal. Singhal in his election speech urged upon the voters of Dhekiajuli constituency to vote in favour of him and the BJP.
