GOSSAIGAON: Every year from September 14 to September 21, the Rajbhasha Week or Hindi Week is celebrated on the occasion of Hindi Divas. Several events are organized in schools and offices. Its basic objective is to increase the spirit of the development of the Hindi language among people by not just limiting it to Hindi Divas only.

Accordingly, 31 Battalion SSB Gossaigaon observed Hindi Divas with great fervor and enthusiasm recently by conducting written competition for non-Hindi personnel to spread awareness about the importance of the Hindi language in the country, followed by Hindi Week celebration till September 29.

The programme was chaired by Chiranjib Bhattacharjee, Commandant 31 Battalion SSB Gossaigaon. He said, "The Hindi language is one of the oldest languages that obtains much of its academic terminology from the Sanskrit language written in the Devnagari script. Hindi Divas is celebrated on September 14 across India i.e. in schools, colleges, offices and organizations to showcase the importance of the day and the language. The day commemorates the event when Hindi was adopted as one of the official languages of India." Essay writing competition and debate competition were also held in the Battalion headquarters to promote the Hindi language.
