Hindu Yuba Chatra Parishad, Asom to celebrate Lachit Divas in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: Hindu Yuba Chatra Parishad, Asom (HYCPA) will celebrate Lachit Divas centrally in Lakhimpur on November 24 in a befitting manner in order to commemorate Lachit Borphukan, the valorous hero of the Battle of Saraighat.

For the successful conduct of the event, the organization has undertaken extensive preparation in view of disseminating the perennial message of patriotism showed by Lachit Borphukan. In this regard, a public meeting was organized at Tyag Kshetra of North Lakhimpur town in order to chalk out the outline of the programmes to be held while celebrating the event on the designated day. The meeting was chaired by retired Principal Padma Sarmah Baruah under the management of Lakhimpur district unit HYCPA president Jugmajyoti Dutta.

In the same meeting, the reception committee to celebrate the event was formed with Madhav Hazarika as president, Babul Borah as working president, Padma Sarmah Baruah as patron, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Kakati as chief secretary, Rajiv Singh, Mridul Kakati and Manoj Saikia as secretaries. HYCPA central committee president Balen Baishya, general secretary Madhav Das, and a host of prominent citizens of Lakhimpur, including the members of the regional committees of the organization, were present in the public meeting.
