LAKHIMPUR: Hindu Yuva Chatra Parishad, Asom (HYCPA) vehemently condemned Morigaon MLA Ramakanta Deuri for allegedly making communal statements in a public meeting held on October 5 under his constituency.

Through a press release, HYCPA central committee president Bolen Baishya and general secretary Madhab Das demanded him to tender public apology for making 'unconstitutional', 'derogatory' and 'communal' statement that undermined the Brahmin and Mahanta communities of the State.

"The unconstitutional, derogatory and communal statement made by Morigaon MLA Ramakanta Deuri has astounded the people of the State. Despite being a responsible MLA under the BJP government led by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who is working relentlessly to build harmony and peace integrating the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys, the statement made by Ramakanta Deuri has confused the common people," the press release stated.

Through the same press release, the HYCPA president and the general secretary demanded the State BJP to suspend Ramakanta Deuri even from the general membership of the party and to set an example of equality and solidarity.

They declared that the organization would file cases against the MLA at every police station of the State for his unconstitutional statement and would give him a befitting reply in the ensuing assembly election. They demanded the State Government to arrest the MLA immediately by registering suo-motto case against him.
