GUWAHATI: The Assam tour during which Union Home Minister Amit Shah had planned to celebrate the second term in office of the alliance government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma on May 11, has been moved to May 26 due to the political and social climate in Manipur at the moment.
Following this, the newly hired candidates would now receive their employment letters on May 26 rather than May 11, as announced by the Assam chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, during a news conference held here in Guwahati.
However, there have been no modifications made to the candidates' joining dates, which remain June 1, 2023.
CM Sarma said to the media, “The dates of the distribution of the appointment letter have been postponed to May 26 instead of May 11. The candidates will be joining their respective offices from June 1, 2023.”
The National Forensic Science University will be inaugurated in Guwahati on May 26 by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the chief minister also announced.
The Assam government also intends to allocate 150 bighas of land near the AIIMS Guwahati for the development of the aforementioned University.
The chief minister also noted that the establishment of the National Forensic Science University in Guwahati, which will follow Gujarat's Ahmedabad, is a big step for Assam.
In light of the recent violence in Manipur, Shah recently postponed his election campaign in Karnataka.
Shah had a poll rally and roadshow on May 5 in Karatagi, Koppal district of Karnataka, which he was supposed to attend.
He has abandoned the Koppal trip for election campaign and also the public gathering in Kustagi, due to the prevailing situation in Manipur, which has taken on a war-like scenario. A total of around 54 people have been killed, while thousands have fled or are looking to flee the state amid violence among different communities.
