Horror from Assam: Child Stripped Naked, Tied to a Pole in Public by Father

This is informed to Assam Police by a child rights activist. GP Singh reacted to it and arrested the child's father

Guwahati: A little child was stripped naked on Friday and tied to a pole in public and thrashed by his own father in Maligaon, Guwahati. The horrifying incident was reported to Assam Police by child rights activist Miguel Das Queah.

Sharingg the information on Twitter, he wrote, "A little child was stripped naked, tied to a pole in public and thrashed by her own father in Maligaon. Requesting @assampolice to take the strictest action against this monster. Unimaginable."

The Assam Police was prompt to act and arrested the father. The child has been rescued and is with Childline, the emergency helpline for children.

Das thanked Assam Police, "I thank Spl. DGP GP Sir, ADGP Hardi Sir, Commr MP Gupta, JCP P.S. Mahanta, DCP N.Mahanta, ACP B.Goswami and ACP B.Nath for response. The Child has been rescued and is safe wt Childline & the abusive father has been arrested."

Over 600 children in the state were reported to have been sexually exploited in the report of 2015. This came to light in the latest report of the Assam State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR).

As many as 618 cases were recorded in the state under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (Pocso) of 2012. Among the districts, upper Assam's Dibrugarh district topped the list, with as many as 68 cases booked under the Act.

As conducted by the Ministry of Women and Child development, across different kinds of abuse, it is young children in the 5-12 year group are most at risk of abuse and exploitation. This involves physical, sexual, as well as emotional abuse.
