MANGALDAI: The Rowta police in Udalguri district seized a truck loaded with unauthorized India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) illegally transported from Arunachal Pradesh in the wee hours of Sunday.
The police team headed by Officer-in-charge of Rowta Police Station, Sub Inspector Hemanta Kumar Barua acting on a tip-off, laid a naka checking on NH-15 at Rowta and at about 5 am they intercepted the container truck bearing registration no. UP 21 CN 2181 coming from Arunachal Pradesh.
During the checking, a huge consignment of cartons of illegal IMFL was found in the container truck. The driver, Saud Alom (23), son of Mehfuj Alom of village Gurer under Menathiya Police Station of Moradabad district in UP, and the handyman, Adnan (19), son of Irfan of village Azad Nagar in Moradabad district in UP, were apprehended. The estimated value of the seized IMFL is more than Rs 70 lakh.
