LAKHIMPUR: Hindu Yuva Chatra Parishad, Asom (HYCPA) has called upon the Government of Assam to continue eviction drives at the encroached government lands and to be strict against the encroachers. The organization made this call to the government through a press release sent to the media.

Through the same press release, the organization criticized the State Government for its alleged moves, initiated to rehabilitate the evicted encroachers. "The act of taking moves to rehabilitate the encroachers in some other places, after evicting them from the encroached government lands, without initiating legal action against them, is unfortunate. We have nothing to say, if the government allot land to any landless families by responding to their appeal, but allotment of land to encroachers, the violators of law, is not acceptable," HYCPA president Balen Baishya, general secretary Madhav Das said in the press release.

Through the same press release, the HYCPA president and the general secretary criticized a section of politicians and intellectual figures of the State for their alleged attempts of safeguarding the illegal encroachers on 'humanitarian ground'. The organization further demanded the government to enact a strict law so that the encroachers cannot be rehabilitated. The organization also extended its support for rigorous imprisonment of illegal encroachers and the imposition of the cost of launching eviction drives upon them.

The organization called upon the people of Assam to boycott those political parties which extended support to the illegal encroachers.
