GUWAHATI: In an effort to provide a comprehensive insight into its operational prowess, Air Force Station Jorhat and Air Force Station Mohanbari, both under the Eastern Air Command of the Indian Air Force (IAF), conducted Media Orientation Capsules for journalists. This initiative aimed to shed light on IAF's dominant Air Power capabilities, modern platforms such as Rafale, SU-30 MK-I, LCA, C-17, C-130, Chinook, and Apache, as well as cutting-edge weapon systems, sensors, and networks. The sessions, attended by 40 media representatives, delved into IAF's historical evolution and covered various operational activities, spanning flying operations involving fighters, transport aircraft, and helicopters.

The focus of the interaction extended to outlining the roles and responsibilities of different Air Force bases within the Eastern Air Command, with special emphasis on Air Force Station Mohanbari. The IAF's incorporation of advanced technology, including platforms, sensors, weapons, networks, and communication systems, was another crucial topic of discussion. The event strategically projected IAF's alignment with the 'AtmaNirbhar Bharat' (self-reliant India) initiative, showcasing the organization's capabilities achieved through indigenization efforts. This was evident through the development and adoption of indigenous technologies such as the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), and Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), alongside various Air Defence (AD) and communication systems.

Furthermore, the orientation shed light on IAF's noteworthy involvement in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief missions. These missions have been pivotal in responding to diverse calamities and crises, particularly in the challenging terrains of North East India. The informative sessions were designed not only to create awareness among the media but also to foster a deeper understanding of IAF's operations and objectives.

The event concluded with a static display of the assets stationed at the base, offering journalists a visual perspective of IAF's impressive capabilities. This Media Orientation Capsule successfully highlighted IAF's dominant Air Power stature, its commitment to indigenization, and its crucial role in aiding disaster-stricken regions, ultimately strengthening its rapport with the media and the public.
