IAS officer Prabhati Thaosen appointed as new DC of Darrang district

Prabhati Thaosen -an officer of Indian Administrative Service- on Wednesday took over as the 28th Deputy Commissioner of Darrang district.

MANGALDAI: Prabhati Thaosen -an officer of Indian Administrative Service- on Wednesday took over as the 28th Deputy Commissioner of Darrang district. She is also the first lady Deputy Commissioner of the district which was created on July 1 of 1983.

Earlier, she was serving as the Secretary of Home and Political department, Implementation of Assam Accord and Border Areas Development department of the State Government. She took over the charge from outgoing Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah.

Talking to The Sentinel immediately after taking over, Prabhati Thaosen said that her priority would be on tackling the unprecedented crisis arising out of the second wave of COVID-19. She also assured to take the administration to the people of the district.

On the other hand, outgoing Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah has been transferred on promotion as the Secretary of the Finance department. Dilip Kumar Borah had rendered his devoted service with integrity in the district for a period of one year and was successful in taking the administration to the people with a people-friendly attitude. All the officials and staff of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, in a simple function observing all COVID protocol, offered a hearty farewell to Dilip Kumar Borah and accorded a rousing welcome to Prabhati Thaosen.
