Tezpur: The
Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru will organize
a five-day national horticulture fair from February 8 to February 12,
ICAR- IIHR Director Dr. MR Dinesh announced in a press meet on Friday. The
theme of the fair will be 'Horticulture: for start-up and stand-up India'. IIHR
will showcase more than 200 demo fields of horticultural crops, new farm
mechanization systems, among other farm technologies.
The farmers and stakeholders from other States of the country may join the horticulture fair considering the COVID situation. In the virtual press conference, the Bengaluru-based IIHR Director said that the annual fair would be held in order to reach out to maximum farmers across the country with new technologies and innovations from IIHR to strengthen production of horticultural crops.
This is the fourth national annual fair and is expected to see a footfall of 25 lakh farmers across the country, of which 30,000 farmers will be from Karnataka and neighbouring southern States, he said. The Krishi Vigyan Kendras in different zones will facilitate the participation of farmers in the virtual horticultural fair and farmer-scientist interaction.
