Illegal Soil Extraction from Doomdooma Forest Division in Tinsukia Alleged

Illegal soil excavation from the reserve forest under Kakopathar Range of Doomdooma Forest Division in Tinsukia district allegedly by a PWD contractor has created resentment among local conscious people and organisations even as the latter submitted a formal complaint at DFO office Doomdooma about illegal extraction of sand from nearby Na-Dihing and Hahkati rivers.

TINSUKIA : Illegal soil excavation from the reserve forest under Kakopathar Range of Doomdooma Forest Division in Tinsukia district allegedly by a PWD contractor has created resentment among local conscious people and organisations even as the latter submitted a formal complaint at DFO office Doomdooma about illegal extraction of sand from nearby Na-Dihing and Hahkati rivers.

According to reports, the activists of Mottock Yuba Chatra Parishad and local people of Dirak handed over 2 dumpers- AS 23BC 8688/ 3538 and a JCB AS 23CC 5945 to Kakopathar Range office when these vehicles were about to start soil excavation at Dirak-Hahkati-Kumsang Reserve Forest. The local people alleged that the soil was supposed to be used for the construction of a PWD road at Dirak and demanded proper inquiry into the incident.
