Illicit distilled liquor seized from Assam tea gardens

Two individuals were apprehended and cases registered against them.

In continuation of drive against illicit  distilled liquor, the excise department recently raided several tea gardens of Hailakandi in southern Assam and seized illicitly distilled liquor and fermented wash.

 Two individuals were apprehended and cases registered against them.

In an official statement, it has been informed that excise personnel conducted several raids at Gaglacherra, Pakicherra, Kanchanpur and Bondukmara tea estate areas.

During the raid, the excise personnel seized 13 litres of illicitly distilled liquor and 240 litres of fermented wash including three sets of distilling apparatus.

As per reports, Excise personnel destroyed them on the spot.

It is to be mentioned that the excise department in the Barak Valley district have been conducting a series of drives against illicit liquor in and around the tea garden areas leading to the seizure of huge quantities of illicit liquor and fermented wash.
