TINSUKIA: On the eve of Durga Puja festival, the Margherita civil administration in association with Margherita and Digboi Excise Circles conducted a joint excise search, patrolling, raid along with 'naka checking' on Wednesday. The operation was led by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Margherita, Siddhartha Sonowal.
A total of five cases were detected within Margherita Excise Circle in Bongaon, Dehing TE and its adjoining areas and the roadside hotels and dhabas. The items seized and destroyed were illicit distilled liquor approximately 20 litres, Paswai 165 litres and fermented wash 450 litres. While within the Digboi Excise Circle, two cases were detected in Powai Centre and the roadside hotels and dhabas. The items seized and destroyed were fermented wash 200 litres and illicit distilled liquor 15 litres.
