A CORRESPONDENT
DUDHNOI: The All Rabha Students' Union has demanded immediate withdrawal of clause 4 of the HLC (High Level Committees) on HSLC and HS examinations.
In the wake of the epidemic caused by COVID-19, the report submitted by two high-level committees constituted to decide on the assessment of this year's HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate) examination and Higher Secondary (Higher Secondary) final examination has evoked sharp reaction from students and their parents. In this regard, the All Rabha Students' Union (ARSU) addressed the media at its headquarters here on Sunday. The general secretary in-charge of the students' organisation, Jaychandra Dabang said that students appearing for HSLC and HS examinations are already disturbed. He added that the students are worried as to whether the examinations would be conducted or not.
The government's notification that the mark sheets to be received on the basis of special assessment system on the basis of expert committee report will not be acceptable to any job in various departments of the Assam government in the coming days has posed another mental challenge to them, he pointed out.
Dabang further posed questions on clause 4 of the report submitted by the expert committee. "This is more likely to keep many students in the village areas out of the purview of this system. On the other hand, conducting examinations is dependent on the entire situation. In such cases, students are sure to face even more complications mentally if the examinations are prolonged uncertainly due to unexpected reasons. Moreover, as they will be already included in the next class or course in view of which it will be a problem for them to appear for the respective examinations again.
"Therefore, in this complex juncture, the All Rabha Students Union demands that the Assam government should clarify to the students and their guardians as to its stand with respect to the problems that the students would face in the State government job sector. The Union has demanded immediate cancellation or amendment of clause 5 mentioned in the report, adding that it would push the students into an uncertain future.
The press conference was attended by All Rabha Students Union vice president Pradeep Rabha, assistant secretary Subhash Rabha, finance secretary Debesh Rabha, cultural secretary Phuleshwar Rabha and the president of the Union's Goalpara District committee Asim Rabha.
