Tezpur: The health department of Sonitpur commenced fourth-round IMI 2.0 drive-in Sonitpur district from Monday with a target of 673 dropout children (0 to 2 years) and 75 pregnant women to be covered in total 70 sessions under Intensified Mission Indradhanus. The immunization program provides protection against 11 life-threatening diseases like Diphtheria, Pertussis (whooping cough), Tetanus, Polio, Tuberculosis, Rotavirus Diarrhoea, Measles, Rubella, Hepatitis -B, Meningitis due to Hib and Japanese Encephalitis.
“The Health Department of Sonitpur, with the help of 5 Assam Bn NCC Tezpur here, has already conducted some awareness meetings among the communities in the areas selected for IMI 2.0, interaction of cadets with villages to spread awareness on immunization drive, distribution of literature (leaflets) and information about dates of immunization three days prior,” said Dr. Biman Sharma, District Immunization Officer.
